My name is Aaron George Moyo, some of you may already know me through the salsa classes I teach around Brighton. For those of you who don’t here’s a little bit about me and how I came to be teaching Salsa in Brighton.

I was born in Zambia Mufulira but grew up in Saudi Arabia, and then in the United Kingdom where I have lived for the majority of my life. From an early age I loved more than anything, listening to music, singing/ songwriting, dancing and performing.

My first experience of performing on stage happened by chance when my older brother Brian and I were practising some break dance moves- moon walking, body popping and free styling etc. A friend of my father’s spotted us and convinced him to allow us to perform at a conference he was organising. I was 9 years old at the time and the feeling of walking out onto a stage to entertain 300 people, was exhilarating. It was both amazing and encouraging to hear the audience clapping and cheering throughout our performance. From that day on all I ever wanted to do was dance and perform.

It was this I believe that lit the flame in my heart to eventually embark on a career of performance, music and dance.

I was introduced to salsa whilst working as a DJ at the Ocean Rooms (1998 to 2000) for Danny James who held a Latin Party after his salsa classes.
In January 2000 I became the resident DJ at the Salsa Club New York

In 2002 whilst working at the salsa club, I taught street dance there and at the Alive Gym in Brighton. I also taught street dance 4Kidz at Corals Gym in Hove.

After years of nagging that I should learn to dance Salsa. Danny offered to teach me with the aim that I would continue to run the salsa classes once he sold the club in 2004.

There is something very magical about salsa. I believe that through it you can connect with your passion and sensuality and have fun. After 4 years of dancing and teaching salsa I still feel the same enthusiasm and inspiration I felt when Danny James first taught me.

So, if you are interested in learning salsa then do get in touch. I know that it can be a nerve racking experience when learning anything new or joining a group for the first time, but I promise you that our classes are fun and the people here are warm and welcoming.
